In a move to strengthen public healthcare delivery in Meghalaya, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday for the establishment of a standalone Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC) at Sohiong Community Health Centre (CHC).
The MoU was signed at the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society (MACS) office in Shillong in the presence of Dr. K. Lucia Iawbor, Project Director, MACS.
The new ICTC aims to enhance access to HIV-related services, including testing, counselling, and early detection, particularly for communities in and around Sohiong. Officials said the facility will support early diagnosis and timely intervention, strengthening the region’s public health response to HIV.
With the addition of the standalone ICTC, Sohiong CHC is expected to expand its capacity to deliver quality care, raise awareness, and provide critical support services to those in need. Health authorities noted that the initiative reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and promote public health.
