Aizawl, Jan 29: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma inaugurated the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Mizoram Group Headquarters at his office on Thursday, marking a major step toward independent administration of NCC activities in the state.
Previously managed under the Assam State directorate, the new headquarters will now oversee all NCC operations specifically for Mizoram. The inauguration was attended by Sports & Youth Services Minister Lainghinglova Hmar, Major General Anurag Vij, Additional Director General of NCC North Eastern Region, and Brigadier GS Arora, Commander of the Group Headquarters in Aizawl.
In a subsequent meeting with ministers and senior NCC officials, Lalduhoma highlighted efforts to establish the headquarters and urged Mizoram youth to join NCC for character development. He also expressed concern over rising substance abuse among young people and emphasized creating safe, disciplined platforms for talented youth to showcase their skills.
Major General Vij praised the initiative, reiterating NCC’s mission to develop self-disciplined and courageous citizens free from harmful habits. He announced plans for inter-state exposure programs to enhance national integration among Northeast youth and congratulated Lalduhoma on the milestone.
NCC officials requested the state government provide land on a long-term lease to develop permanent infrastructure. Mizoram currently has four NCC units with around 8,000 cadets, with further expansion expected following the establishment of the headquarters.
