MP Biplab Kumar Deb Thanks Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for Initiating Development of Three South Tripura Temples

Agartala, March 12, 2026: Former Chief Minister of Tripura and Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb has expressed sincere gratitude to Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for initiating the process of infrastructure development of three prominent temples in South Tripura.

In a statement, Deb said that the Union Minister has taken necessary steps following his proposal seeking development support for the historic temples—Yogmaya Kali Bari in Belonia, Raj Rajeshwari Kali Bari in Muhuripur and Daityeshwari Kali Bari in Sabroom.

“I express my sincere thanks and gratitude to Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for taking necessary steps to initiate the process of infrastructure development of Yogmaya Kali Bari in Belonia, Raj Rajeshwari Kali Bari in Muhuripur and Daityeshwari Kali Bari in Sabroom,” Deb said.

He further stated that these temples hold immense religious and cultural significance for the people of the region and attract devotees from different parts of the state as well as neighboring areas.

“Strengthening infrastructure in these temples will not only preserve their spiritual and cultural heritage but will also boost religious tourism in South Tripura,” Deb added.

According to sources, the proposal sent by the MP on January 21, 2026 was acknowledged by the Ministry of Culture, and the request has now been forwarded to the concerned authorities for necessary action as per government norms.

Deb also expressed hope that with the support of the central government, the development of these temples will enhance facilities for devotees and improve connectivity and amenities around the temple premises.

“The initiative will play an important role in promoting cultural heritage and tourism in Tripura while ensuring better facilities for pilgrims visiting these sacred sites,” he said.

Local residents and devotees have welcomed the move, stating that development of these historic temples will further strengthen the religious and cultural identity of the region.
