Kohima, April 30: Employees of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) have announced an indefinite ‘no pay, no work’ protest beginning May 5, citing long-overdue salaries and pending dues. The decision was taken during an executive meeting of the Dimapur Municipal Council Employees’ Welfare Union after repeated appeals to the authorities failed to yield results.

The union has warned that all sanitation and public services under the council will be suspended from May 5 if their demands remain unmet. This marks a continuation of grievances that surfaced earlier in December 2025, when the employees staged a cease-work protest over unpaid dues. That agitation was called off following assurances from the Municipal Council that payments would be cleared, but the promises remain unfulfilled.

Union representatives stated that the indefinite strike was a last resort after months of unaddressed concerns, stressing that the livelihood of employees has been severely impacted.
