Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav has urged citizens across the state to actively participate in Census 2027, describing it as a cornerstone for future development and governance. Launching the exercise under the theme “My Census, My Development” at Lok Bhavan, Yadav highlighted the importance of the initiative, noting that Nagaland has joined the rest of the country in undertaking this historic national count.
Participating in the Self-Enumeration phase, he emphasized that for the first time, households can register themselves online between June 16 and June 30, making the process more transparent, efficient, and inclusive. He stressed that the data collected will be vital for shaping policies in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social welfare, ensuring government schemes reach every section of society.
“As India advances towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, Census 2027 will provide vital data for development and planning,” Yadav said, commending the efforts of over 6,100 census officials deployed across Nagaland. He appealed to tribal bodies, village councils, community organizations, and elders to extend full cooperation, stressing that the census is not merely a count of people but a foundation for future planning.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also encouraged citizens to participate in the self-enumeration process and motivate others to do the same. In a post on X, Rio remarked that accurate census data is essential for informed planning, effective governance, and better policy outcomes for future generations.
The first phase of Census 2027, the House Listing Operation, began on June 16. Citizens can self-enumerate online until June 30, after which field enumeration will take place from July 1 to July 30. The second phase, the Population Census, is scheduled for February 2027.
