The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Athletics Federation of India was held in Nagaland for the first time, marking a first instance of any national sports federation conducting its AGM in the state.
Neiphiu Rio welcomed the delegates to Nagaland and said the event reflects growing engagement between national sports bodies and the Northeast region. He noted that Indian athletics is undergoing significant development and expressed confidence in its continued progress.
The Chief Minister also acknowledged the role of Dr. Lalit Kumar Bhanot in facilitating the conduct of the AGM in Nagaland, stating that such initiatives help strengthen connections between the Northeast and national-level institutions.
He added that hosting the AGM would provide delegates an opportunity to experience the culture of Nagaland, and expressed hope for successful outcomes from the deliberations.
