Nagaland’s lone Lok Sabha MP S. Supongmeren Jamir raised concerns in Parliament over long-standing recruitment issues affecting local candidates appearing in Staff Selection Commission (SSC) examinations. The issue was highlighted with reference to vacancies in central broadcasting institutions in Nagaland.
Jamir pointed to acute staff shortages in Doordarshan and Akashvani stations in Nagaland, stating that posts for Programme Executives and Transmission Executives advertised in 2013 remain unfilled. He said the Hindi Paper-II requirement in the recruitment process created a major barrier for local aspirants.
The MP urged the concerned Ministry to consider a special recruitment drive for Nagaland, suggesting that examinations be conducted in English and that the Hindi requirement be relaxed to ensure fair opportunities for local youth.
