Kohima, Nov 15: Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday highlighted a surge in corporate investment in Nagaland, coupled with initiatives focused on enhancing youth skills in advanced technologies.

Sitharaman inaugurated the AI & Future Skills Centre of Excellence at the Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre in Dimapur, describing it as a step toward equipping young people with modern technical skills. She pointed out two key collaborations driving this growth with the Tata Group in Kohima for semiconductor technology training and with the CYIENT Foundation in Dimapur for AI-driven manufacturing and 3D printing.

“These initiatives will enable Nagaland’s youth to thrive in emerging technology-driven industries and contribute meaningfully to national development,” Sitharaman said.

During her visit, the Union Minister reviewed the development of India’s 112 aspirational districts and participated in a credit outreach programme with major banks to promote financial inclusion through accessible loans. She also met Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and his cabinet colleagues at Niathu Resort to assess the progress of the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme.

In addition, Sitharaman virtually inaugurated the construction of a pre-fabricated multipurpose hall with amenities in Phek district and a guest house for administrative officers in Zunheboto.
