National People’s Party (NPP) president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on December 2 formally introduced newly-appointed Manipur state unit chief Lorho S. Pfoze during a programme held in Shillong, marking a significant organisational reset for the party in the state.
Sangma said the restructuring aims to strengthen the NPP’s political base in Manipur ahead of upcoming electoral cycles, adding that the new leadership team would play a crucial role in expanding outreach and enhancing coordination across districts.
At the event, Sangma also recognised Rameshwar M. Singh as leader of the legislative party and Loken Singh as chief whip, while working presidents Noorul Hasan and Janghemlung Panmei were felicitated for their roles in the revamped team.
Founded by the late P.A. Sangma in 2013, the NPP has steadily expanded its presence in Manipur, securing its first major breakthroughs in the 2017 Assembly elections and consolidating further gains in 2022.
Sangma later posted on Twitter, congratulating Pfoze and expressing confidence that the refreshed state unit would “serve the people of Manipur with renewed confidence” and work collectively to advance the party’s mission.
