Security forces have arrested six active cadres of different proscribed militant outfits, including a woman cadre, during a series of operations conducted across Manipur on May 27 and 28.
On May 28, security forces arrested two active cadres of the RPF/PLA identified as Taorem Manglemchandra Singh alias Manglem alias Pakhang (44) of Kodompokpi Maning Leikai under Nambol Police Station in Imphal West district, presently residing at Keikol Maning Leikai under Heingang Police Station in Imphal East district, and Huirongbam Bembem Devi alias Sila Bbi (39) of Khaidem Laiphrakpam Maning Leikai under Lilong Police Station in Thoubal district, currently residing at Lamdeng Khunou in Imphal West district.
According to security sources, the duo was involved in extortion activities targeting clinics and pharmacies in Imphal West district.
In another operation on the same day, security forces arrested an active RPF/PLA cadre identified as Ngangom Bimol Singh alias Nanao alias Ngakpa (28) from his residence at Sanjenbam Maning Leikai in Imphal West district. A mobile phone and an Aadhaar card were seized from his possession.
Security forces also arrested an active cadre of KCP (PWG), identified as Laishram Samananda Singh alias Naochi (36) of Lambal Awang Leikai under Lamsang Police Station in Imphal West district, from his residence. A mobile phone and an Aadhaar card were recovered from him.
Earlier, on May 27, security forces arrested two active cadres of KCP (PWG) from their respective residences. The arrested individuals were identified as Thokchom Tondonba Meitei alias Sinthangamba (27) of Wangkhei Hijam Leirak in Imphal East district, presently residing at Bamon Kampu Leitambi, and Ningthoujam Arunjit Meetei (33) of Yaingangpokpi Awang Leikai, currently residing at Khurai Salanthong RK Leirak in Imphal East district.
During the operation, security forces recovered three 36 HE hand grenades, a red tin box containing seven detonators, one extortion demand letter, two bags, five mobile phones and two Aadhaar cards from their possession.
