Tripura: 4 Labourers Killed, 6 Injured as Dumper Overturns in Longtharai Valley

Agartala, May 18, 2026: In a tragic road accident, four labourers lost their lives and six others were injured after a dumper carrying stone chips overturned at Naisarampada under Manikpur Police Station in Tripura’s Longtharai Valley subdivision.

According to police, the incident took place around 3 PM on Sunday when the dumper was travelling from Manikpur towards Naisarampada. The vehicle, reportedly overloaded with construction materials, went out of control due to the poor condition of the road and overturned, trapping several labourers beneath it.

Longtharai Valley SDPO Sona Charan Jamatia said that personnel from a nearby BSF camp rushed to the spot immediately after the accident and carried out rescue operations. The injured were shifted to Chhaimanu Primary Health Centre, where doctors declared four labourers brought dead.

The deceased have been identified as Bolidhanjay Tripura (47), Majida Tripura (50), Bathojay Tripura (39), and Narjay Tripura (36).

Six others sustained injuries in the mishap. Police said one of the injured is in critical condition, while the remaining victims are stable and out of danger.

A case has been registered at Manikpur Police Station, and an investigation is underway. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area.
