Tripura: Assam Rifles Destroy ₹25.72 Crore Ganja Cultivation Spread Over 50 Acres in Boxanagar

Agartala, February 4, 2026: In a sustained effort to curb the drug menace, Assam Rifles conducted a major operation against illicit ganja cultivation in the general area of Boxanagar, about 41 km south of Agartala in Tripura.

The operation was carried out jointly with the Forest Department, Agartala, during which approximately 1.75 lakh ganja saplings were identified and destroyed. The illegal cultivation was spread across nearly 50 acres of land. Officials estimated the market value of the destroyed contraband at around ₹25.72 crore.

The successful action underscored effective intelligence-based planning and close coordination between Assam Rifles and civil authorities in tackling illegal narcotics cultivation in the region.

Assam Rifles reiterated its firm commitment to eliminating the drug menace and continuing efforts to protect youth and society from the adverse impact of narcotics.
