Agartala, February 07, 2026: Kanchanpur witnessed a tragic road accident on Saturday morning in which a four-year-old child lost his life. The deceased has been identified as James Tripura.

Local sources informed that the accident took place when a heavy tripper truck collided head-on with an e-rickshaw. The impact caused the e-rickshaw to overturn, and the child was crushed under the wheels of the truck, dying instantly at the scene.

The child’s mother was among five people seriously injured in the accident. They were initially taken to Kanchanpur Primary Health Centre, where doctors provided first aid. As the condition of three victims deteriorated, they were referred to North Tripura District Hospital for advanced treatment.

News of the incident spread quickly, casting a pall of grief over the area. The sudden death of the child left family members inconsolable, while residents expressed anger over the frequent accidents caused by reckless movement of heavy vehicles in the locality.

Police later reached the spot, seized the vehicles involved, and launched an investigation into the incident.
