Agartala, February 05, 2026: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday highlighted the importance of instilling ethics and values in students, stating that education must serve the welfare of society and the nation. He emphasized that only by embracing moral responsibility can today’s youth grow into responsible citizens.
Dr. Saha made the remarks while inaugurating the newly built two-storey building of P.M.-SHRI Hajibari Class XII School in the Fatikroy Assembly constituency. Alongside the inauguration, he laid the foundation stone for a bridge over the Manu River connecting Saidarpar and Sardapalli in Kumarghat, a project worth ₹1.26 crore. He also opened the Sixth Milan Mela-2026 on the school grounds.
Highlighting the bridge’s significance, the Chief Minister said it would directly benefit 6,000–7,000 residents. “Farmers will be able to transport their produce to the Kumarghat market with ease, and the railway station will become more accessible,” he noted.

Dr. Saha further pointed to Tripura’s progress in women’s safety, asserting that crime rates have dropped and women can now move freely even at night. “This is real development,” he remarked.
On education reforms, the Chief Minister said technology-driven initiatives such as Personalized Adaptive Learning (P.A.L.) are being introduced under the National Education Policy. He highlighted the expansion of higher education infrastructure, including new universities, increased medical college seats, and upcoming institutions in Ambassa. “We are not only modernizing education but also ensuring students are rooted in moral values,” he added.
SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das, speaking at the Milan Mela, praised the event as a platform for cultural exchange and community bonding. He recalled its inception in 2018 and noted interruptions in 2021 and 2023 due to the pandemic and elections. “This four-day mela will showcase traditions and strengthen unity among communities,” he said.
The Chief Minister was joined by senior officials and dignitaries, including Unakoti Zila Parishad Sabhadipati Amalendu Das, District Magistrate Dr. Tamal Majumdar, Superintendent of Police Sudambika R., Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, and Kumarghat Panchayat Samiti Chairman Sumati Das.
