Agartala, May 26, 2025: In a significant move to reinforce law and order and strengthen the state’s fight against drug trafficking, Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar visited Unakoti district today. A high-level meeting was held at the District Superintendent of Police’s office in Kailashahar, where top officials reviewed strategies and future plans.
DIG Rati Ranjan Debnath, Superintendent of Police (North Tripura and Unkoti) Avinash Rai, along with sub-divisional police officers and officers-in-charge from various police stations attended the meeting.
Addressing the media after the meeting, DGP Dhankar said, “This is my first visit to Unkoti as the DGP, but I have been here several times before. Ensuring law and order is not the responsibility of the police alone — we need cooperation from every section of society.”
He also underlined the administration’s top priority — the campaign to make Tripura a drug-free state. “We had an in-depth discussion on how to move forward in our mission. The conviction rate is over 30% at present, which is encouraging,” the DGP stated.
Later in the day, DGP Dhankar held another strategic meeting at the Superintendent of Police’s office in Dharmanagar, North Tripura. Senior officials including sub-divisional officers, OCs, and other members of the security department participated.
Speaking at a press conference after the meeting, he remarked, “The role of the security department in the coming days was the core agenda of our discussion. We are committed to enhancing safety and curbing criminal activities.”
DGP Dhankar also informed the press that he would be visiting the 13th TSR Battalion in Kanchanpur to interact with the jawans, reinforcing morale and operational readiness.
