Agartala, April 11, 2026: Tripura has emerged as a national frontrunner in empowering women through Self-Help Groups (SHGs), achieving significant success in livelihood settlement and financial inclusion under the Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs).
According to data from the National Annual Report, the state has recorded an impressive 85 percent livelihood settlement rate, placing it among the top three states in the country. This achievement highlights Tripura’s effectiveness in transitioning trained SHG members into sustainable income-generating activities.
Officials noted that the success reflects a strong convergence of training, institutional support, and grassroots participation, particularly among rural women who are increasingly taking up entrepreneurship in sectors such as agriculture, tailoring, and small-scale enterprises.
In terms of financial inclusion, Tripura has also made notable progress. The state has achieved a 54 percent credit linkage rate, securing the fifth position nationally. This indicates improved access to institutional finance for SHG members, enabling them to expand their livelihood activities and enhance economic stability.
Experts believe that Tripura’s model could serve as a benchmark for other states aiming to strengthen rural livelihoods and women’s empowerment through structured training and financial access.
The performance underscores the growing role of SHGs as a driving force in rural development and inclusive growth across the state.
