Agartala, May 01, 2026: A court in Tripura’s Dhalai district has convicted one person in a murder case and sentenced him to life imprisonment for 20 years.
According to an official press release from the Tripura Police, the District & Sessions Judge, Ambassa, found Ganyaram Reang (32), a resident of Brikshyaram Para under Nepal Tilla police station, guilty of murder under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The court also imposed a fine of ₹5,000. In default of payment, the convict will undergo an additional two years of simple imprisonment.
The case dates back to the night of April 21–22, 2025, when the accused allegedly assaulted Thanglaiha Reang (30) with a lathi due to previous enmity. The victim sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot.
Following investigation, Sub-Inspector Rajesh Bhattacharjee of Nepaltilla Police Station filed the chargesheet on August 22, 2025. After trial, the court pronounced the accused guilty and awarded the sentence accordingly.
