Agartala, January 24, 2026: Tripura’s East Agartala police station staff has arrested a man with 500 yaba tablets during a vehicle search in the Dhaleshwar area. The accused has been identified as Shankhadip Roy, a resident of Dhaleshwar Road No. 8.

Speaking to the media personnel on Saturday, East Police Station Officer-in-Charge Subrata Debnath said that Roy was detained around 8:30 p.m. on Friday while loitering suspiciously during routine checks in the locality. A search of his jacket led to the recovery of 500 yaba tablets. Police later conducted a raid at his residence but found no additional contraband, Debnath added.

A case has been registered against Roy under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. According to police sources, the accused will be produced before court on Saturday, where investigators are expected to seek five days of police custody for further interrogation.
