Guwahati, Oct 10: The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) resumed discussions on Friday to finalise its strategy for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Sarma described Thursday’s extended executive committee meeting in Dibrugarh as “highly productive,” with members deliberating on various organisational and electoral matters. “We have almost concluded the strategy for next year’s polls,” he added.
Separate sessions of the party’s core committee and office bearers were also held on Thursday. The discussions are expected to continue on Friday, with state BJP president Dilip Saikia scheduled to brief the media on the outcomes of the two-day meeting.
Senior leaders present at the session included Union ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Pabitra Margherita, national secretary and MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, state in-charge Harish Dwivedi, and state general secretary (organisation) Ravindra Raju.
