Agartala, January 05, 2025: An Agartala Renters’ Colony resident, Maitri Chakraborty, an Assistant Professor of Tripura Medical College and Dr BR Ambedkar Teacher Hospital, sustained a head injury after meeting with an accident while vacationing with her family in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

At the time of the incident, Lok Sabha MP and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb was also in Andaman on an official programme along with a parliamentary delegation of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. A family acquaintance informed Deb about the incident through social media and sought his intervention.

Responding promptly, Deb’s office immediately contacted the family. On Sunday, the MP personally visited GB Pant Hospital in Andaman, where Maitri Chakraborty is undergoing treatment. He enquired about her health condition, interacted with her family members and held discussions with the attending doctors regarding further advanced medical care.

Sources said that Deb assured all necessary support and took steps to ensure better treatment. The patient is expected to be shifted to a higher medical facility for advanced treatment on January 06 next

Family members expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, describing it as a humane gesture reflecting responsive public service.
