Agartala, December 16, 2025: Tripura Police have achieved a major breakthrough in the state‑wide anti‑narcotics drive aimed at building a drug‑free Tripura. In the past 24 hours, multiple coordinated operations across three districts led to the seizure of narcotics worth an estimated ₹5.5 crore, Assistant Inspector General of Police Randhir Debbarma said.
Unakoti district saw a major operation in which a special team from Kumarghat Police Station recovered 2.82 kg of Yaba tablets worth about ₹1.5 crore, leading to the arrest of one person. In North Tripura, Dharmanagar Police seized 44,000 Yaba tablets valued at roughly ₹2.5 crore and arrested three individuals. Meanwhile, in Dhalai district, two separate raids by Ambassa Police resulted in the recovery of 69 grams of brown sugar and 20,000 Yaba tablets, together worth nearly ₹1.5 crore, with six suspects taken into custody.
AIGP Debbarma stated that these cases have been registered under various sections of the NDPS Act. He added that the operations were part of the state government’s zero‑tolerance policy against drugs, and similar intensified actions will continue to strengthen the campaign for a drug‑free Tripura.
