Agartala, July 10, 2025: Train services on the Lumding–Badarpur hill section are yet to be fully restored following a massive landslide, but the North East Frontier Railway (NFR) has introduced one-way special trains to manage the surge in passenger traffic.

NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma on Thursday informed that two special trains will operate today, July 10, to ease travel difficulties. “Train No. 05616 (Silchar–Guwahati) will depart from Silchar at 12 noon and reach Guwahati at 11:30 pm, while Train No. 05619 (Guwahati–Agartala) will leave Guwahati at 12 noon and arrive in Agartala at 3:30 am the next day,” he said.

These special trains will stop at key intermediate stations to facilitate passenger boarding and deboarding. “This step has been taken to accommodate passengers affected by the disrupted services,” Sharma added.

The disruption stems from a significant landslide between Mupa and Dihakho stations (KM-51/1-2) under the Lumding division, which buried tracks under debris, including soil, rocks, and boulders. Rail traffic on the hill section remains suspended since the incident.

“Work is ongoing at a war footing to restore normalcy. Adequate equipment and manpower have been deployed at the affected site,” Sharma said, estimating that it may take another two to three days for full restoration of services.

To assist travelers, help desks have been set up at Guwahati, Lumding, Silchar, Badarpur, and Agartala stations. Passengers are advised to verify train schedules and updates through official railway channels before planning their journey.
