Agartala, April 30, 2026: In a major step toward expanding technology-driven healthcare, Tripura Santiniketan Digital Hospital Global Mission–2026 is launching in Agartala on May 05, marking the beginning of an ambitious international health initiative.

The programme will be formally inaugurated by the state’s Health Minister i.e. Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha, with the mission led by the Positive Barta Foundation. The initiative aims to bridge healthcare gaps through digital infrastructure and deliver quality medical services across borders.

Under its “Distance is Dead” Vision 2030, the mission plans to provide modern healthcare access to nearly 50 crore people worldwide. This will be achieved through the establishment of 100 tele-labs across 20 countries, enabling remote diagnosis and treatment.

A key feature of the initiative is the development of two global hubs—Agartala will be positioned as a digital health capital for Southeast Asia, while Bolpur in West Bengal will hold a major global hub, envisioned as a “Digital AIIMS of the Global South.”

The mission will roll out six core tele-services, including telemedicine, tele-pathology, tele-radiology, tele-ICU, tele-education, and AI-enabled connectivity. These services are expected to allow patients to access expert consultations, receive diagnostic reports within 30 minutes, and obtain disease prognosis from their homes.

In a grassroots push, the initiative will deploy 10,000 trained female health workers under the ‘AI Didi’ programme to deliver primary healthcare services in remote areas. Affordable medicines will also be made available through a dedicated distribution platform.

The project is being implemented in collaboration with multiple partners, including the governments of Tripura and West Bengal, the Border Security Force (BSF), the World Health Organization, the United Nations, and technical partner Ek Duniya.

Digital command centres for the mission will be based at Tripura Santiniketan Medical College and Hospital (TSMCH) in Agartala and Santiniketan Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) in Bolpur.

Chairman Malay Pit said the initiative goes beyond service delivery and aims to establish equitable healthcare access globally. “We are not just providing health services; we are establishing the right to health. A child in a remote village in Africa and a farmer in Bengal will both receive the same quality of treatment and respect,” he said.

The second phase of the mission will be marked by the formal inauguration of the global hub at Bolpur on May 13, where the ‘Sundarbans Digital Health Model’ is also expected to be unveiled.
