Agartala, January 2, 2026: Tripura’s Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath flagged off a consignment of 1,000 kilograms of organic white sesame bound for Anand, Gujarat, on Friday.

The shipment has been supplied to Media Minds, a subsidiary of Amul. The minister announced that an additional 5,000 kilograms of sesame will soon be dispatched to Gujarat, citing strong demand for the crop.

The sesame was procured directly from farmers by Loknath Organic FPC, Dhalai Organic FPC, and Yapri Organic FPC, ensuring fair prices and boosting farmer incomes. “Our state’s organic products are gaining remarkable popularity outside Tripura, and today’s initiative is proof of that,” Nath said.

He extended special thanks to the International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA) and Sheel Biotech for their crucial role in facilitating the process. Nath added that five organizations are currently training FPCs on procurement, pricing, and marketing strategies to strengthen the organic value chain.

Highlighting the importance of institutional support, the minister noted: “Farmers produce, but they often do not know how to export to other states or abroad. Government assistance is vital, which is why FPCs and service providers have been established.”

Since 2023–24, Tripura has exported organic products worth more than ₹5.50 crore to other states. Next month, three FPCs from the state will participate in BioFach in Germany, the world’s leading organic food trade fair.
