Agartala, January 10, 2026: Tripura has once again set a remarkable example of excellence at the national stage. At the National Role Play and Folk Dance Competition 2025–26, held in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, students from the state clinched second place in the role play category, bringing pride and honor to Tripura.
The prestigious event was organized from January 6 to 9, 2026, with participants representing every state across India. After winning first place at the state level, the team from Maharani Tulsibati Girls’ School in West Tripura earned the opportunity to represent Tripura at the national competition.
On January 5, 2026, the student team, led by teachers Mitra Acharyya and Rimi Deb, arrived in Gwalior to present their performance. The play, centered on the timely and socially relevant theme of “Safe Use of Internet Gadgets and Media,” was scripted and directed by noted dramatist and school theatre trainer Rimi Deb.
The team featured Class IX students Tanushree Pal, Sneha Rajbhar, Titiksha Debnath, Rima Das, and Rishika Roy. Their fluent acting, thematic depth, and stage presence impressed the jury, who awarded Tripura second place in the role play category.
The achievement has sparked joy and pride across the state’s educational and cultural circles, with the school’s headmistress, teachers, parents, and the broader community celebrating the success. Theatre enthusiasts in Kailashahar also expressed pride, noting Rimi Deb’s long-standing contributions to local theatre groups and her leadership in guiding the students to national recognition.
