Agartala, April 18, 2026: A fresh controversy has erupted within the Tipra Motha Party after its MLA Ranjit Debbarma publicly castigated his own party colleague and Minister Animesh Debbarma, using sharp and provocative remarks that have stirred political debate in the state.
In a strongly worded statement, Ranjit Debbarma questioned Animesh Debbarma’s political stance and loyalty, saying, “What will happen to you now if you do Gaddar with Tiprasa or Bubagra? What is your dream Deputy CM? What happened to the BJP according to your words and ideas?”
He further challenged the Minister, adding, “Why don’t you sue me for defamation? Tiprasa people will judge you Gaddar!”
The remarks, laced with repeated references to “Gaddar” (traitor), reflect deepening fissures within the party, particularly at a time when Tipra Motha has been consolidating its political position in Tripura’s tribal areas.
Ranjit Debbarma also asserted that the people of the Tiprasa community would ultimately decide on the matter, stating, “Tiprasa people will judge you… your Gaddar is a Tiprasa people.”
The public outburst has triggered reactions across political circles, with observers viewing it as a sign of internal discord within the party leadership. However, there has been no immediate official response from Animesh Debbarma regarding the allegations.
