Agartala, May 15, 2026: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tripura as part of Phase-III of a nationwide revision exercise covering 16 States and 3 Union Territories.
According to the notification issued by the ECI today, the Special Intensive Revision in Tripura will begin with the qualifying date fixed as October 1, 2026.
As per the schedule, preparation, training and printing work will be carried out from September 5 to September 14, 2026. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will then conduct house-to-house visits across the state from September 15 to October 14, 2026 for verification and enumeration of electors.
The rationalization of polling stations is scheduled to be completed by October 14, while the draft electoral roll will be published on October 21, 2026.
The period for filing claims and objections will continue from October 21 to November 20, 2026. Disposal of claims and objections has been scheduled from October 21 to December 19, 2026, following which the final electoral roll will be published on December 23, 2026.
The ECI stated that the Phase-III schedule has been prepared keeping in view the common field machinery engaged in the ongoing Census house-listing exercise.
In Tripura, a total of 3,356 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and 6,757 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties will be involved in the revision process. The state currently has 28,97,674 electors as on May 12, 2026, according to the Election Commission data.
The Commission described the SIR as a participative and transparent exercise involving electors, political parties and election officials. Political parties have been requested to appoint BLAs for every polling booth to ensure wider participation and transparency during the revision process.
The ECI further informed that after completion of Phase-III, the Special Intensive Revision will cover the entire country except Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, where the schedule will be announced later considering the Census process and weather conditions in snow-bound areas.
