Agartala, April 18, 2026: In a recent development highlighting ongoing border security concerns, personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) detained a transgender Bangladeshi national near the Dharmanagar Railway Station in North Tripura on Friday evening. The individual was later handed over to police at the Dharmanagar Police Station on Saturday.

According to police sources, the detained individual has been identified as Munna Sarkar, a resident of the Bagula area in Bangladesh. During preliminary interrogation, Munna reportedly admitted to illegally entering Indian territory with the help of a tout, paying approximately ₹10,000 for assistance. The stated intention was to travel to Guwahati in search of work opportunities.

The incident has once again brought the issue of border infiltration into focus. Local residents have expressed concern over how the individual managed to bypass BSF vigilance and enter the country undetected.

Police officials confirmed that further interrogation is underway, and an investigation has been initiated to uncover the network involved in facilitating the illegal entry.
