Agartala, December 2, 2025: Tripura’s long-pending call for better railway infrastructure has gained momentum, with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw giving in-principle approval for the proposed development of Mungiakami Railway Station.
State Minister for Tribal Welfare Bikash Debbarma welcomed the positive response, calling it a major step towards strengthening connectivity and improving passenger services in the state. After meeting the Union Railway Minister in the national capital, Debbarma shared the update through a social media post, highlighting the Centre’s constructive approach towards enhancing rail infrastructure in the North-East, particularly in Tripura.
According to Debbarma, the Union Minister’s assurance has renewed optimism that the Mungiakami Railway Station will soon witness modernization and expansion, leading to improved facilities and stronger regional links.
The proposed development is expected to significantly benefit residents of the 29-Krishnapur Assembly Constituency, boost Tripura’s integration with the wider North-Eastern railway network, and provide better amenities for passengers. It is also likely to contribute to faster socio-economic growth in the surrounding areas.
Reiterating his appreciation, Debbarma thanked the Railways Ministry for acknowledging the aspirations of the people of Tripura and expressed hope for swift progress towards improved connectivity and infrastructure development in the region.
