The Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the April 7 Tronglaobi bomb attack that killed two children clarified that no consensus has been reached with Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh regarding its seven-point charter of demands.
“The meeting was held, but there is no consensus. Further action plan will be deliberated in consultation with the public,” the JAC convenor said.
The JAC had met the Chief Minister on April 16 and 17 at his bungalow in Imphal and submitted a seven-point charter of demands, including a crackdown on militants, replacement of CRPF with state forces in vulnerable areas, and arrest of those responsible for the killing of the two children.
The committee has also been protesting what it described as a serious security lapse and has demanded action against security personnel allegedly responsible for negligence.
The JAC and family members earlier refused to claim the bodies and warned of launching an economic blockade along the Tiddim Road if their demands are not fulfilled.
