Two Drug Peddlers Arrested; Arms And Ammunition Seized In Separate Operations Across Manipur

Manipur Police on Tuesday arrested two inter-state drug peddlers and seized approximately two kilograms of brown sugar from Sekmai Pangaltabi area under Sekmai Police Station in Imphal West district.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Md. Mustakim (28) of Lilong Lou Manga and Umar Khan (30) of Lilong Chingkham Maning, both from Thoubal district. The duo has been taken into custody for further investigation.

In a separate operation, security forces recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition from the foothills of Tentha Tuwaband under Khongjom Police Station in Thoubal district. The recovered items include one M16 rifle, one SBBL PAG (Repeater), one .22 rifle with magazine, five 9 mm pistols each with a magazine, six rounds of ammunition of different calibers, four 12-bore cartridges, and two grenades.

Another recovery operation was conducted by security forces at Uran Chiru village and its surrounding areas under Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East district. The seized items include one .32 pistol, one 9 mm pistol, one .22 rifle, one repeater gun, three hand grenades, two detonators, and three live .32 ammunition.

Authorities said all recovered weapons and explosives have been handed over to the respective police stations for further investigation and necessary legal action.
