Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, IAS, along with MHA’s Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Kumar Deka, IPS, visited the Ngahmun Pre-fabricated Relief Camp in Champhai Sub-Division, Kangpokpi District, to assess the ongoing relief efforts for internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The high-level delegation was joined by Manipur Chief Secretary PK Singh, Director General of Police Rajiv Singh, Kangpokpi Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Choudhary, and other state and district officials.
During the visit, Govind Mohan handed over a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance—donated by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL)—to the District Health Society. The move aims to enhance healthcare accessibility for the region’s displaced population.
The Home Secretary also inaugurated a newly established study centre within the relief camp, intended to provide educational support for students affected by the unrest. In a show of encouragement, he felicitated students who passed the HSLC and Higher Secondary Examinations 2025, presenting them with certificates of appreciation, stationery kits, and sports items.
Interacting directly with the IDPs, Mohan reassured the camp residents of the central and state governments’ commitment to their welfare. He emphasized that both governments are actively working toward sustainable livelihood solutions and the safe return of displaced families to their homes.
IDP residents expressed concerns about the lack of exam centres, financial aid, medical supplies, and livelihood opportunities. They appealed for urgent intervention from the authorities.
Govind Mohan reiterated the importance of coordinated efforts between the administration and aid agencies to ensure a comprehensive and lasting response to the crisis.
The visit also saw the presence of SP Manoj Prabhakar, ADC Shokhongam Baite, MCS, and senior district-level officers including SDOs and DLOs.
