Kohima, Dec 4: Union Minister of Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia arrived in Nagaland on Thursday for a three-day visit, focusing on cultural events and development initiatives across the state.
Upon his arrival at Dimapur Airport, Scindia said Nagaland reflects diversity, capability, and significant potential for the country. He described his presence at the Hornbill Festival as an honour, calling the event a testament to the state’s history, culture, and future aspirations.
Scindia stated that the Centre remains committed to the progress of the Northeast, noting that the Act East, Act Fast, and Act First approach has delivered tangible results. He added that 10 percent of the gross budgetary support—amounting to over one lakh crore rupees annually—is allocated to the Northeast, enabling various development projects across the region’s eight states.
During his visit, Scindia will attend the traditional stone-pulling ceremony at Touphema village on Friday as part of the ongoing Hornbill Festival. He will also inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several projects under his ministry.
The Minister is scheduled to participate in Hornbill festivities at the Naga Heritage Village in Kisama and visit the Heirloom Naga Centre in Dimapur.
