A 20-year-old woman from Manipur was found dead early this morning near the “I Love Kilokari” signboard close to a temple in the Maharani Bagh area, falling under the jurisdiction of PS Sunlight Colony. The deceased was identified as Priya Laxmi Devi, daughter of Khagemba Jadumani Singh, a native of Ngaikhong, Bishnupur district, Manipur.
Priya had been residing on the third floor of House No. C-43 in Kilokari since October 2024, along with her roommate. She was employed at iEnergizer (Blackjack), a BPO firm based in Noida. According to her roommate, she did not report to work the previous day. Her body was discovered near her building early this morning, prompting a PCR call that was received by Sunlight Colony police station at 6:22 AM.
Initial investigations suggest a possible case of suicide. CCTV footage from the rooftop of her residence shows Priya walking alone before jumping, indicating that she may have taken her own life. The footage has been secured for further analysis.
Police, along with the District Crime Team, examined her room and recovered a suicide note from her phone. The note reflected deep emotional distress, mental exhaustion, and a sense of isolation. It revealed that Priya had been struggling with feelings of failure and a lack of purpose.
Her family has been informed of the incident. The body has been preserved at AIIMS Mortuary, and a postmortem examination will be conducted in the presence of her relatives to determine the exact cause of death.
