Manipur CM Chairs NCORD Meeting, Reaffirms Commitment To Drug-Free State

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) at the Manipur Secretariat to review ongoing efforts and strengthen measures against drug trafficking and substance abuse in the state.

The meeting was attended by Home Minister K. Govindas Singh, Director General of Police Rajiv Singh, the Security Adviser to the Government of Manipur, senior police officials, and representatives of various security agencies, including the Assam Rifles, Border Security Force (BSF), and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed strategies aimed at enhancing intelligence gathering, information sharing, inter-agency coordination, and enforcement mechanisms to curb the trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

Emphasising the need for a coordinated and sustained approach, Khemchand Singh reiterated the state government’s commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and intensifying action against individuals and groups involved in the illegal drug trade.

The meeting also discussed measures to strengthen cooperation among law enforcement and security agencies to effectively tackle the drug menace and prevent substance abuse, particularly among the youth. Officials deliberated on ways to improve operational coordination and enforcement capabilities as part of the state’s ongoing anti-drug campaign.

Reaffirming the government’s resolve to build a drug-free Manipur, the Chief Minister stated that the fight against narcotics would continue through stronger enforcement, enhanced institutional coordination, and public awareness initiatives.

The NCORD meeting reviewed the progress of existing anti-drug measures and explored additional strategies to address emerging challenges related to drug trafficking and substance abuse in the state.
