Tripura CM To Attend Review Meeting On NHs With Nitin Gadkari At Guwahati

Agartala, November 10, 2022: Union Road, Transport and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari will chair a review meeting on National Highways (NHs) at Guwahati on Friday. Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha will fly to Guwahati and participate in this review meeting.

A detailed discussion on the progress of road development in various states funded by the central government will be held in this meeting and the details of the progress of the state’s national highway work during the current government’s tenure may be important in the discussion of Chief Minister Dr Saha, according to sources.

It is reported that the Chief Minister Dr Saha may take the details of the road development works in the state in the meeting. Among these, the progress of work on National Highway 108 (B) from Churaibari-Dharmanagar-Kailashahar-Kamalpur-Khowai to Agartala may come up. At the same time information on the construction work of National Highway 44(A) from Manu to Shimlung in Mizoram is going on.

Tripura CM may raise before the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the request to start the construction of the road up to Khowai-Teliamura-Amarpur-Harina under the National Highway 208 as soon as possible. If this road is built, the import and export of goods within the entire Northeast India will be facilitated through Sabroom with Chittagong port. At the same time, the Chief Minister can also demand the reform of National Highway 8.

There is also news that the CM may put an application for the construction of some new roads. Among them Kamalpur-Santirbazar via Ambasa-Gandacherra and Amarpur road. Once constructed, it will connect with National Highways 108 and 208. It will connect from the north to the south of the state. If this road is constructed under Bharatmala 2.0, the people of the indigenous section of the state will be especially benefited and tourist travel to Chabimura and Narkel Kunja tourist spots will be greatly facilitated. At the same time, it is reported that the CM may also put up the request to upgrade the Udaipur-Sonamura road to a national highway.

It may be noted that the work of Udaipur-Sabroom National Highway, Agartala-Udaipur National Highway, Maitri Bridge over Feni river at Sabroom, bypass road from Khayerpur to Amtali in Agartala has already been completed. It is speculated that the Chief Minister can thank the Central Government for this.
