Mizoram Cyclist Returns To Aizawl After Pan-India Tour Promoting Clean Air

Mizoram’s Vanlallawmzuala Varte returned to Durtlang, Aizawl, on Tuesday afternoon, after completing an incredible 286-day cycling journey across 28 states and 5 Union Territories. The All India Cycle Tour, themed “Ride to Clean Air,” aimed to raise awareness about the importance of clean air and sustainable lifestyles.

Varte’s remarkable journey began on January 25, 2024, in Aizawl, covering a staggering 17,043.1 km with an average daily distance of 83.54 km. He returned to Mizoram on October 31 and continued cycling until reaching Aizawl.

A grand welcoming event was organized by the Mizoram Pollution Control Board at MC Hall in Durtlang, where Varte shared his experiences and challenges faced during the tour. He commended the efforts of Pollution Control Board officials, missionaries, and government employees for their support and commitment to environmental causes.

MICA president Franklin Lalrinngheta praised Varte’s determination and selflessness, noting the lasting impact of his initiative. Representatives from NGOs, environmental activists, and various organizations gathered to honor Varte’s achievement.

Varte’s “Ride to Clean Air” tour took him through diverse routes, marking significant milestones each month. His dedication to promoting clean air and sustainable lifestyles serves as an inspiration to all.

The Mizoram government’s recognition of Varte’s achievement highlights the importance of individual efforts in driving environmental change. As Varte’s journey comes to an end, his legacy will continue to inspire others to take action towards a cleaner, greener India.
