Manipur Police Arrest Seven KCP (PWG) Militants, Seize Weapons And Explosives

In a significant operation, Manipur Police arrested seven militants belonging to the Kanglei Communist Party (KCP) – People’s War Group (PWG) and recovered a large stockpile of weapons and explosives in Kakching district. The arrests followed a series of raids on December 16, 2024, linked to the recent killings of two non-local individuals in Keirak on December 14.

The operation commenced with the arrest of Irengbam Rameshwar Singh (48), a senior KCP (PWG) operative, from the Kakching Lamkhai area. Based on his interrogation, the police raided a militant hideout at Kakching Mamang Ching Laipham Loknung, leading to the apprehension of six additional militants.

The arrested militants have been identified as Elangabm Herojit Singh (40), Heikrujam Prem (28), Okram Arundatta (30), Senjam Rebingson (27), Okram Amarjit (31), Aribam Ghanendrajit Sharma (25), and Chongtham Rajkumar (26).

During the raid, police seized a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, including: One 7.65 pistol with a magazine, One country-made 9mm pistol with a magazine, One .32 pistol with a magazine, One country-made 7.62 sniper rifle with a magazine, Two DBBL guns, Two SBBL guns, Three HE grenades with detonators, Nineteen live rounds of ammunition, Two empty cartridges, Two Baofeng handsets with chargers, Ten mobile phones and One unregistered two-wheeler vehicle

The arrested militants have been handed over to Kakching Police Station for further investigation. Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to combating insurgent activities in the region and ensuring the safety of local communities.
