Agartala, January 10, 2025: The National Law University (NLU) Tripura, in collaboration with the Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Government of Tripura hosted a state-level workshop on Thursday to review the Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDP) 2025. The event took place at the State Panchayat Resource Centre, A.D. Nagar, highlighting the importance of decentralized governance and innovative solutions for rural development.
The workshop brought together over 490 Secretaries from Gram Panchayats and Village Committees across West Tripura, Gomati, and Sepahijala districts. Eminent resource persons included Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, Vice-Chancellor of NLU Tripura, Mr. Prasun De, Director of the RD Panchayat Department, and Prof. Nachiketa Mittal, Registrar of NLU Tripura, along with other mentors and faculty experts.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Prasun De expressed his vision of making Tripura a leader in Panchayat empowerment. “Through collective efforts and innovative strategies, we aim to create a model of governance that strengthens the foundation of our Panchayats,” he stated. Prof. Yogesh Pratap Singh emphasized NLU Tripura’s commitment to impactful community initiatives, saying, “This collaboration between academia and governance is a testament to our shared goal of fostering sustainable development at the grassroots level.”
Key activities during the workshop included reviewing the existing GPDPs, addressing implementation challenges, and devising strategies aligned with Local Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs). Constructive feedback and actionable recommendations were shared to enhance the plans, while participants had the opportunity to voice their concerns directly to the authorities, fostering a culture of transparency and collaboration.
Prof. Nachiketa Mittal, in his closing remarks, thanked all stakeholders for their active participation. “This workshop is a stepping stone towards transformative change, driven by the synergy between academia and governance,” he remarked.
The event concluded on a note of optimism, inspiring participants to work collectively towards advancing rural development in Tripura. This initiative exemplifies the power of partnerships in driving progress and building resilient Panchayats.
