The full team of the 16th Finance Commission, headed by Chairman Arvind Panagariya, will arrive in Tripura on January 29 for a four-day visit to assess the state’s financial needs, an official confirmed on Saturday.
During their visit, the team will meet with Chief Minister Manik Saha, government officials, and other stakeholders to discuss the state’s fiscal requirements. They will also engage with representatives from local bodies, including the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), and political parties to understand their demands.
The visit will focus on evaluating the state’s fund requirements for non-plan expenditures for the five-year period starting from April 1, 2026.
The team includes members Ajay Narayan Jha, Annie George Mathew, Manoj Panda, and Secretary Ritvik Pandey. The visit will conclude on February 1.
