Guwahati, Jan 29: The Assam Government organized a successful Investors’ Roadshow at Hotel Taj Bengal in Kolkata, showcasing the state’s investment opportunities in anticipation of the “Advantage Assam 2.0: Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025,” scheduled for February 25-26 in Guwahati.
The event featured a keynote address by Ashok Singhal, Minister of Health, Family Welfare, and Irrigation, Government of Assam. Singhal highlighted Assam’s rapid infrastructure development, focus on green energy, and diverse manufacturing sectors, underlining the state’s potential as a prime investment destination. He emphasized transformative projects such as the Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge and Jagiroad Electronics City, as well as Assam’s leadership in solar power, green hydrogen, and ammonia production.
The roadshow also focused on Assam’s bespoke industrial policies, offering incentives like capital subsidies and SGST reimbursements to attract large-scale investments. Singhal revealed that the state has already signed 21 memoranda of understanding (MOUs) worth over Rs 14,000 crore, with notable investments from major companies like PepsiCo and Dalmia Cement.
Additionally, Singhal spoke about Assam’s commitment to skill development through initiatives like the Assam Skill University and partnerships with Tata Technologies and Dassault Systems. He also mentioned the upcoming Tata Semiconductor OSAT Unit, which is expected to create 15,000 direct jobs in the region.
Prominent industry leaders, including representatives from Emami Limited, Godrej Agrovet, and Mendine Pharmaceuticals, participated in Business-to-Government (B2G) meetings to discuss investment opportunities across sectors like energy, infrastructure, and electronics.
The roadshow concluded with an invitation from Singhal for stakeholders to participate in the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit, emphasizing the state’s growing potential for investment. The summit will be preceded by a grand Jhumoir dance performance on February 24 and will feature the Prime Minister of India, Union Ministers, and international industry leaders.
