The Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, today launched the ‘Addiction Free Manipur Campaign’ at the Raj Bhavan in Imphal. The initiative, organized by Brahma Kumaris in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), aims to address the growing issue of substance abuse across the state.
The campaign focuses on raising awareness, mobilizing communities, and engaging vulnerable groups to combat addiction. During the launch event at Raj Bhavan’s Darbar Hall, the Governor emphasized the importance of community involvement and collaboration between government and non-government organizations to tackle drug abuse effectively. He highlighted the efforts of NMBA, which covers 372 districts across India, aiming to reduce substance abuse nationwide.
Governor Bhalla stressed the need for preventive measures and awareness campaigns to curb addiction. He also praised Brahma Kumaris for their commendable initiative towards a drug-free India, urging the youth and the wider community to join the movement and contribute towards building a developed nation by 2047.
The launch event was attended by notable figures including Dr. Banarsilal Shah, Secretary of the Medical Wing of Mt. Abu, Dr. Swapan Gupta, Associate Professor of Neurology at GB Pant Institute, New Delhi, and Prof. RK Lenin Singh, President of the Indian Medical Association, Manipur State Branch, along with BK Nilima, In-charge of Brahma Kumaris, Manipur.
