Agartala, February 15, 2025: In a joint operation, the Government Railway Police (GRP), Border Security Force (BSF) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested a Bangladeshi woman and an Indian tout for illegally infiltrating Tripura. Authorities stated that the duo managed to cross the border, evading security, before being caught at Agartala railway station.

“Based on secret information, we learned that a Bangladeshi citizen was preparing to travel to another state from Agartala railway station. Acting on this input, a joint raid was conducted, leading to their arrest,” said Tapas Das, Officer-in-Charge of GRP police station.

During interrogation, both individuals confessed to illegally entering India. The arrested woman has been identified as Taslima Akhtar (24), a resident of Bangladesh, while the Indian tout has been identified as Arbajan Sheikh (36), a resident of West Bengal. A specific case has been filed against them, and they will be produced before the court today.

Despite strict surveillance by the BSF, incidents of Bangladeshi infiltration into Tripura continue unabated. Authorities have noted that touts frequently assist infiltrators in crossing the barbed wire fences, making illegal entry into the state a recurring issue. Security forces are maintaining heightened vigilance to curb such incidents.
