The Union government has approved an additional Rs 459.92 crore under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to assist Tripura and Nagaland, which have been severely impacted by recent natural calamities. This funding comes as part of the broader relief effort for states affected by floods, landslides, and cyclonic storms in 2024.
Tripura will receive Rs 288.93 crore, while Nagaland has been allocated Rs 170.99 crore to support their recovery and rebuilding efforts. The assistance aims to aid the restoration of essential infrastructure and provide relief to the disaster-affected populations in both states.
This approval follows the earlier sanction of Rs 1,554.99 crore to five states, with the Centre continuing its efforts to provide substantial financial aid for disaster relief. In the current fiscal year, Rs 18,322.80 crore has already been released to 27 states under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), with an additional Rs 4,808.30 crore allocated from the NDRF to 18 states.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting disaster-affected regions, underscoring the timely and ongoing relief measures being taken to assist the affected communities in their recovery.
