Aizawl, Mar 6: Mizoram celebrated Chapchar Kut 2025 with grand cultural events across the state, highlighting its rich traditions and heritage. A key attraction was the ‘Live Demonstration of Traditional Mizo Life’ at Falkawn, organized by the Art & Culture Department. Adviser to the Chief Minister, Pu TBC Lalvenchhunga, inaugurated the event and emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting Mizo culture.
The event featured live demonstrations of traditional Mizo houses such as Zawlbuk, Khawnbawl, and Pum, along with displays of Mizo weaving, traditional crafts, and cultural artifacts. Performances of Mizo music and dance added to the celebrations. The event, held under the guidance of Art & Culture Department Director Pi Carol VLMS Dawngkimi, saw participation from government school students from Melriat and members of Falkawn MHIP, MUP, and YMA.
Chapchar Kut, Mizoram’s biggest spring festival, is celebrated after the completion of jhum cultivation. The festival includes traditional dances, folk songs, and community feasts, bringing people together to honor Mizo heritage.
Cultural programs and festivities will continue across the state, showcasing Mizoram’s traditions and strengthening community bonds.
