Assam Rifles Seize Foreign Liquor Worth Rs 2.52 Lakh In Mizoram’s Champhai District

Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Customs Preventive Force, seized foreign-origin liquor valued at Rs 2.52 lakh in Champhai district, Mizoram, during a joint operation on April 10. The operation was launched based on specific intelligence regarding illicit liquor trafficking in the region.

During a patrol in the Ngur area, authorities discovered 21 cases of Dagon Beer concealed in a jungle area. The seized liquor has been handed over to the Customs Preventive Force for further action.

On April 10, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma met Anurag Garg, Director General of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), in Aizawl to discuss strategies to combat the rising drug trafficking in the state. The Chief Minister stressed the need for enhanced border security infrastructure and manpower.

He also reiterated the state government’s request to the Central Government for the formation of a Mizo Territorial Army to help tackle the growing drug menace.

In a separate operation on April 6, Assam Rifles recovered a significant haul of weapons and explosives in Saiha district, Mizoram. Based on intelligence about the movement of illegal arms, the operation led to the recovery of 122 detonators, 94 gelatin sticks, eight meters of safety fuse, and a 12-bore rifle with ammunition.

An individual was apprehended during the operation and has been handed over to Mizoram Police for further investigation.
