Aizawl, Apr 12: The 4th Boisu festival, celebrating the Bru community’s traditional New Year, was held with great enthusiasm at Vanapa Hall in Aizawl on Saturday. The event, organized by the Bru Student Association (BSA), General Headquarters, Aizawl, was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Mizoram, Pu Lalduhoma, as the Chief Guest.
During his address, the Chief Minister revealed that the Mizoram Government would fulfill the long-standing aspiration of Bru students by constructing a Bru House-cum-Hostel at Tanhril, Aizawl. Financial provisions for the project have already been made.
Pu Lalduhoma highlighted the importance of Mizoram’s diverse ethnic communities, noting that the state has long been a model of peaceful coexistence. He emphasized the need for all citizens to celebrate their unique identities and cultures with respect, free from discrimination or coercion.
The Chief Minister also condemned discrimination and religious intolerance, stressing that Mizoram’s strength lies in its foundation of peace and liberty. He called for collective action to combat drug abuse, advocating for the use of both legal and traditional measures in addressing the issue.
Cultural performances were presented by the BSA Shillong Cultural Troupe, BSA Aizawl Branch, and the Bodo Students Union of Mizoram University. Gratitude for the Bru House-cum-Hostel initiative was expressed by Pu Lalromawia Apeto, President of the BSA, and other Bru community leaders.
The event, attended by over one thousand Bru students and community members, celebrated the spirit of unity and cultural diversity.
