Agartala, April 16, 2025: In a significant success against trans-border narcotics trafficking, Border Security Force (BSF) troops of Border Out Post (BOP) NC Nagar in Sepahijala district, Tripura, foiled an attempt by Indian smugglers to smuggle contraband across the Indo-Bangladesh border.

Acting on precise intelligence, alert BSF personnel detected suspicious movement near the international border. Upon being challenged, the smugglers fled the scene, abandoning their consignment on Indian soil.

Following a thorough search operation, BSF personnel recovered 21 packets containing 43,800 Yaba tablets—narcotic pills often trafficked across the border—with an estimated value of ₹4.38 crore. Additionally, contraband items worth ₹3,68,604 were seized from various locations along the Tripura border on the same day.

“This operation reflects the BSF’s unwavering commitment to national security and its intensified efforts to combat cross-border smuggling,” a BSF official stated. “The growing number of seizures is a clear indication of the heightened vigilance of our troops along sensitive border stretches.”

All seized items have been handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal proceedings.

The BSF reaffirmed its determination to secure India’s borders and actively support the nationwide campaign against drug trafficking.
