More than 19,000 people have been affected by severe flooding in Manipur following days of incessant torrential rain, which caused rivers to overflow and embankments to breach, officials said on Monday.
According to state authorities, 3,365 houses have been damaged and 19,811 residents impacted by the flooding over the past four days. In response, 31 relief camps—mostly concentrated in the worst-hit Imphal East district—have been set up to provide shelter and support to those evacuated from their homes.
