Agartala, June 13, 2025: Panic gripped the Garji Peratia area in Tripura’s Udaipur subdivision on Friday morning after the body of a woman was found on the railway tracks. The incident is suspected to be a case of death by being run over by a train drew the immediate attention of the police and local authorities.
According to police sources, locals found the body early in the morning and quickly informed the Garji police outpost. Officers-in-charge Shankar Tripura of the local police station and Gautam Debbarma of the Government Railway Police (GRP) promptly arrived at the scene. Udaipur Subdivision Police Officer Nirman Das also rushed to the location upon receiving the report.
“The woman appears to be around 30 years old. Her identity has not been established yet. Initial investigation suggests she was run over by a train, but we are awaiting the post-mortem report for confirmation,” said SDPO Nirman Das.
The body was recovered from the railway tracks and sent to the district hospital for autopsy. Police are now trying to ascertain the woman’s identity and determine whether there are any signs of foul play.
The incident has triggered significant concern in the area, with locals demanding increased safety measures near the railway lines. Further investigation is underway.
